The site manager should focus on cooperating with agency representatives since a good relationship with them is beneficial to the property in may ways. Agency personnel can be very helpful in achieving the goals that have been set for the property --both economic and social. If given the opportunity, and a sense that their suggestions will be well-received, agency representatives often can provide expert guidance in may areas based on their experiences with other properties. In this way, they can be a valuable source of timely and authoritative information. It is also important for the site manager to ensure the property receives good ratings in the management reviews performed by the agency. Many of the strategies and techniques discussed throughout this book - e.g., having an organized site office and effective procedures for handling paperwork, staying up-to-date on agency regulations, and maintaining the property in the best possible physical condition -- constitute guidelines for obtaining good ratings. All that is needed is proper implementation and consistent follow-through. |
